Changes Made to Vegetarian Option

Friday, January 2nd, 2009

Some of you may have noticed that a few changes have been made to Vegetarian Option.  Here is a quick summary of what changes were made, and why they were made:

  • We have removed the Book Club section, because we felt that it was just not a feasible activity to continue here at the boards.  Even though Melody did a great job as a moderator, none of the members put forward enough effort with the club for it to be worth continuing.  So, we have decided to remove the Book Club altogether.
  • We have released a list of dates for Every Hour on the Hour 2009.  Every month now has an assigned date for this year, and reminders will be issued monthly.  While this activity was successful, it was a gradual success rather than a rapid success, so we no longer require a moderator for that forum.
  • We have hired Hannah as an additional moderator for the Question of the Moment forum.  She and Honey will now be in charge of the forum and will be posting questions there regularly for all of us to answer.  Please give Hannah a warm welcome to her new position as a moderator!

These are all of the major changes that have been made to VegOpt recently.  We expect a few more tweaks here and there, and we will keep you posted on the different adjustments we make to VegOpt.

The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky

Synopsis:

Standing on the fringes of life offers a unique perspective. But there comes a time to see what it looks like from the dance floor.

This haunting novel about the dilemma of passivity vs. passion marks the stunning debut of a provocative new voice in contemporary fiction: The Perks of Being a Wallflower.

This is the story of what it’s like to grow up in high school. More intimate than a diary, Charlie’s letters are singular and unique, hilarious and devastating. We may not know where he lives. We may not know to whom he is writing. All we know is the world he shares. Caught between trying to live his life and trying to run from it puts him on a strange course through uncharted territory. The world of first dates and mixed tapes, family dramas and new friends. The world of sex, drugs, and The Rocky Horror Picture Show, when all one requires is that perfect song on that perfect drive to feel infinite.

Through Charlie, Stephen Chbosky has created a deeply affecting coming-of-age story, a powerful novel that will spirit you back to those wild and poignant roller coaster days known as growing up.
